Sessions for GED Test Planned
October 18 and October 24
The
time to finish up your GED is now! In
response to high demand for adults hoping to finish their GED test before
the end of the year, Jackson Community College will offer two special test
dates, Thursday, October 18, and Wednesday, October 24, with space for up
to 100 people each.
Adults
who have started the General Educational Development test to receive a
high school diploma will want to finish this year before a new test is
offered in 2002. The GED is
comprised of five tests -- writing skills, social studies, science,
literature and the arts, and mathematics - that may be taken in any
order. Passing scores from
tests taken in the past are still valid, but only till December 31.
Test-takers
who begin the test at these times should be able to finish before the end
of the year. Mary Ann Rainey,
non-traditional student coordinator at JCC, said she has had such an
overwhelming response from GED test-takers that she has had to turn people
away. JCC offers the GED test on Wednesday evenings at the main
campus and Fridays at the Michigan Works! Office downtown.
The
GED test will be offered during the morning on October 18, with
registration at 9 a.m. and testing beginning at 10 a.m.
The October 24 date will be in the late afternoon and evening, with
registration at 4 p.m. and test taking at 5 p.m.
Tests will be given in the Federer Rooms in the George E. Potter
Center. For more
information, contact Rainey at (517) 796-8454.
Jackson Community College [787-0800 ext. 8303] also offers a
computer-based interactive GED preparation program with an instructor.
Program hours are flexible in order to fit your schedule and the
lab is available during the entire year.
