Plans Support Groups in Wake of Tragedies
First Session This
Thursday, September 20
Jackson Community
College will host several upcoming meetings to discuss and process the
recent terrorist tragedies in New York City and Washington, D.C.
Beginning this Thursday, the community is invited to attend a JCC
support group/open forum discussion entitled "Understanding Cultural
Reaction, Grief, Anger, Loss and Fear, and How We Help Our Kids."
The session will meet at 7 p.m. in the George E. Potter Center,
Federer Room A.
"Living in an Age of Terrorism - Helping Each Other Cope,"
is the topic for Tuesday, September 25, at 7 p.m. in the Potter Center,
Federer Room A. And on
Monday, October 1, at noon, "Why Terrorism?" will be discussed
in a meeting in Federer Rooms A&B, Potter Center.
Each of these moderated discussions will include input from a cross
section of faculty members from Jackson Community College, and invite
comments, observations and questions from all who attend. Moderator will be Gary Hauck, Director of Professional and
Organizational Development at JCC. Gary
has a background in counseling and ministry, with Ph.D.s in higher adult
and lifelong education, another in religion, and a D.Min. in counseling.
He served as a chaplain for the U.S. Army Reserves for 13 years.
All meetings are free and the public is welcome.
