Dracula
Production Offers Plenty of Bite
Performances October 25,
26, 27, November 2, 4
The
Transylvanian legend will rise again at Jackson Community College as the
Theatre Company prepares its first production of the year, Bram Stoker's
classic tale of horror, Dracula.
Dracula
will take center stage in the Michael J. Baughman Theatre, George E.
Potter Center, at 8 p.m. October 25, 26, 27, and November 2, 3, with a
matinee at 3 p.m. November 4. A
special Halloween production is also planned for 8 p.m. Wednesday, October
31.
This Theatre Company production brings together JCC students,
alumni and community members in this re-telling of the classic tale,
dramatized for the stage by Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston.
"Dracula hadn't been done in so long, and this is the best
stage adaptation of the book," said Gary Wetzel-Righettini, director and
JCC faculty member. "What better time to put on a wonderful, spine-tingling
story."
Wetzel-Righettini said the play has plenty of thrills, chills and
surprises, without a lot of blood and gore.
Leading
the cast is student William McDaniels, of Jackson, as Count Dracula.
In the role of Abraham Von Helsing, the vampire hunter, is JCC
alumnist and supplemental instructor Diego Fabres-Cordero.
Erin Wetzel plays Lucy Seward, and Jerry Rice plays Jonathan Harker.
Rounding out the cast are Justin K. McClure, Jake Anderson, Kerrie
O'Connor, Benjamin G. Stovall, Sara Stevens, Amber Wood and Jill Murphy.
Cost for the production is $8, or $3 for students and seniors.
