JCC Flight Center to Host Open House
Monday,
October 29, 4-6 p.m.
The largest community college flight program in the
nation will open its doors on Monday, October 29, to the community.
Jackson Community College will host an open house from 4 to 6 p.m.
at the Flight Center located at the Jackson County Airport.
On display will be state-of-the-art Cessna airplanes that were
purchased recently to replace older planes in JCC's fleet, better
serving students and supporting training needs.
The four new planes are equipped with moving map GPS systems, dual
communication and navigation radios, and autopilot systems.
Since 1979, the JCC Flight Center has grown from
two aircraft serving 75 students annually to seven aircraft serving 300
students per year. Since 1988
JCC aviation students have flown over 46,000 flight hours and 5.5 million
miles with only one minor accident-an impeccable safety record.
JCC's aviation training allows students enjoy a variety of
careers ranging from power and pipeline patrol to service in the
corporate, airline, and military arenas.
Classroom training required for JCC's aviation program is
conveniently held at the Flight Center and follows the College's
academic calendar. Hands-on
flight training can be started at any time throughout the year.
For more information about the October 29th open house or the
aviation program call David Frazier at the Flight Center at 796-8476.
