Your Turf: Program Offers
Tips for Lawns in Fall
Think fall time means you can stop thinking about your lawn care?
Think again! Fall is perhaps the most important time of year for lawn
care. To help get ready for
the winter, Jackson Community College will host an informational program
on Putting Your Lawn to Bed in the Fall, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday,
October 10 at the JCC Lenawee Center, and again 9:30 a.m. Saturday,
October 19, at the Dahlem Environmental Education Center.
This fun and
informative session will help homeowners explore fall lawn care practices
-- fertilizing, mowing, watering, etc. -- that will improve turf quality and maintain
healthy grass. Topics will include high and low lawn maintenance strategies and how
they affect the biology of your grass. The workshop will emphasize
environmentally responsible lawn practices.
This is a one-hour program with question-and-answer time, taught by
Jon F. Powell, instructor of biology at JCC.
A complementary program will be offered in March to discuss getting
your lawn started in the spring of 2003.
So before the snow flies, find out about how to care for your lawn
at this free event open to the public.
The JCC Lenawee Center if located
on Maple Avenue in Adrian. Dahlem Center is located on South
Jackson Road, just west of the main campus.
