JCC
Charity Event Benefits Local Groups
Jackson Community College raised $2,100 in the annual Dick Wendt
Charities Raffle held recently on campus, to be distributed to local
charity organizations.
Each year, volunteers from the student body, faculty, staff,
retirees and friends of JCC hold this raffle to raise money to be donated
back into the community during the holiday season. Combined with monies
from last year's event, distribution has been made as follows:
·
Junior Dorcas..................................................
$1,500
·
Grace Haven ..................................................
$750
·
Harriet Myer Student Emergency Fund ...........
$500
·
Aware Shelter ................................................
$1,000
·
Jackson Child Care Center ............................. $200
·
Society of St. Vincent DePaul ......................... $600
·
Salvation Army ...............................................
$300
·
Special Olympics ............................................
$300
The raffle is coordinated by a committee of faculty and staff who
work together throughout the year to plan and collect items to be raffled
and auctioned off. Each year the raffle features a variety of homemade
items and goods solicited from the community. The event began more than 30
years ago at JCC, started by retired Professor Emeritus Richard "Dick"
Wendt to benefit those in need here in Jackson.
