05/03/04 For immediate release JCC Welcomes New Class to College Incentive Program10 a.m. May 7, 14, 21, Federer Rooms, Potter CenterJackson Community College will welcome its new class of students into the College Incentive Program with inductions May 7, 14, and 21. Ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m. in the Federer Rooms, Potter Center. CIP continues to induct sixth-grade students from various Jackson County schools with the promise of two years of free JCC college tuition after they graduate from high school, and is directed by Cam Herth, director of multicultural relations. Students are selected by the principals of their schools, based upon the student's ability to benefit from the program. Speakers for this year's events will be: May 7, Pastor Jeff Lang; May 14, Steve Bloomfield, director of enrollment services at JCC; and May 21, Marina Martinez-Kratz, professor of nursing at JCC. The College Incentive Program focuses on providing consistent and systematic support to students throughout their secondary school years, including regular meetings to touch base with students and to recognize their success. In addition, CIP looks forward to developing a strong parent network to help further the efforts of the program and to benefit the whole family.
