Front Porch Series Features Great Music in Open-Air Setting

7 p.m. Thursday, May 20, Potter Center

Jackson Community College's Front Porch Concert Series will kick off Thursday, May 20, with a concert from the Jackson Community Concert Band.  This free concert will begin at 7 p.m. on the front porch of the Potter Center. 

The Front Porch Series is designed to allow the community to enjoy great music in a comfortable, outdoors setting.  Among several great works presented at this concert will be a "Tour de France" with Norman Dello Joio's "Scenes from the Louvre," and the "Suite Frances" by Darius Milhaud.  The Jackson Community Concert Band is comprised of JCC students and community members, under the direction of Ronald Douglass.

These concerts are fun, free, accessible and guaranteed - activities will move indoors in case of inclement weather.  Persons wishing to pre-arrange seating may call ahead at (517) 796-8559; otherwise, audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Barbecue dinner will be available for concert-goers beginning about a half hour before the performance and running through the show.

Future Front Porch Concerts will be held June 3, 20, and 29.
