For immediate release Jackson Community Concert Band Presents Fall Favorites3 p.m. November 21, Harold Sheffer Music Hall, Potter CenterThe Jackson Community Concert Band opens its 18th season of concerts with an exciting program that will please the audience's ears, eyes and also invite them to dance! The band's fall concert will be presented at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 21, in the Harold Sheffer Music Hall of Jackson Community College's Potter Center. The band will perform Modeste Mousorgsky's great tone painting, "Pictures at an Exhibition," transcribed brilliantly for concert band by Mark H. Hindsley. This complete transcription will be accompanied by images of the "pictures," including the original art works that inspired the composition. The audience may then be inclined to leave their seats and dance as the band next plays the music of "Riverdance," by Carl Strommen. Winner of the 1997 Grammy Award for "Best Musical Show Album," the music for the amazing dance group will be sure to make everyone feel Irish! In addition, the band will perform "Sinfonia Nobilissima," by Robert Jager, and "The Sussex Mummer's Carol," by Percy Grainger. The Jackson Community Concert Band is comprised of students and community members, under the direction of Conductor Ronald L. Douglass.
