JCC Plans Auditions for Gay Nineties Farce

6-8 p.m., January 19-20, Potter Center

 

            Jackson Community College will host auditions for the Gay Nineties melodrama, "Lily, the Felon's Daughter," from 6-8 p.m. on January 19-20, Baughman Theatre, Potter Center. 

            "Lily, the Felon's Daughter," is a tear jerker that tells the sad but silly story of Lily Fairweather, pure as the driven snow; of Compton, her weak but handsome sweetheart -- and how villain Craven Sinclair thwarts their plans for everlasting bliss.  With a host of colorful characters, this farcical tale is sure to be a crowd pleaser, with audience members invited to respond as appropriate for this type of production. 

            Directing this performance will be Ann Holt. "This will definitely be a fun event for the whole family," Holt said.  

            There are roles for five males and six females, ages 18 to 60, in this production, and one small dog.  A pianist is also sought to add theme music and other tunes from this era. 

            Auditions are open to both JCC students and community members at large.  The play will be performed March 2-6 at JCC's Potter Center.
