Project Success Day Helps Students Hone Study Skills Tuesday, February 8, JCC campus
Jackson Community College will help students learn how to learn with the semi-annual Project Success Day on Tuesday, February 8, at JCC. Project Success Day offers an opportunity to pause from regular college classes and provide students a day to learn more about study skills and a host of other topics to help them be successful in college. A wide variety of workshops will be offered throughout the day and evening, and individual assistance will be available in computer labs, Center for Student Success, financial aid and advising. Faculty and staff from across the College assist in efforts such as the Committee for Student Readiness and Success that organizes the twice-yearly Project Success Days for students. "Professionals of all types attend conferences and workshops to become better at what they do. I think JCC is unique among Michigan colleges for having created Project Success Day, a day set aside for workshops to help students get the most from their college experience," said JCC Instructor Ted Miller. "At the main campus alone, there will be over 50 sessions covering topics such as how to manage stress, read difficult texts, write good research papers, study for tests, complete the steps for a college degree, and interview for a job. It seems each year the number of presenters and topics grows and more students attend. This is a testament to the College's commitment to the success of its students and to the caliber of students attending JCC." Students have been pleased with past Project Success Days, which began in 2001-02, gaining new study skills and insights and enjoying the full program of activities planned. In addition to workshops, a lunch with music is planned, and prize drawings will be provided for both day and evening students. Complete list of topics include:
