Broadway Revue to present favorites of past and present 8 p.m. Friday, April 1, Potter Center
Enjoy an evening of music from the 1940s to present day, with Broadway, jazz and old standards, when Jackson Community College's Broadway Revue performs "Grand Old Flag," in concert at 8 p.m. Friday, April 1, in the Sheffer Music Hall, Potter Center. The Broadway Revue Jazz/Show Ensemble is comprised of area music students, some of Jackson Community College's finest, including music and theater students. This group and similar groups that Keith and Joann Drayton have directed have been well-known to the community for 25 years. Take a trip back in time and salute the USO with a number of Big Band standards, including "Lulu's Back in Town," "Kalamazoo," "Dream," "Hard-Hearted Hannah," and "Yankee Doodle Dandy," and more! Listen to show tunes with a medley from the hit musical "Chicago," as well as Broadway hits from "Phantom of the Opera," "Les Miserables," "Man of LaMancha," and "Annie Get Your Gun." Enjoy recent classics with renditions of Ray Charles' "Ray's Rockhouse," Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Waters," and the current favorite "You Raise Me Up," by Josh Groban. "This is a foot-stomping, high-energy production with dazzling lights and outstanding college singers and dancers," said Keith Drayton. Under the direction of Keith and Joann Drayton, with Assistant Director Stephen R. Murphy, the Broadway Revue presents a show that's entertaining for the whole family.
