Jackson Community College will welcome its new class of students into the College Incentive Program with inductions April 22, May 6 and May 13. Ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m. in the Federer Rooms, Potter Center. CIP continues to induct sixth-grade students from various Jackson County schools with the promise of two years of free JCC college tuition after they graduate from high school, and is directed by Cam Herth, director of multicultural relations. Students are selected by the principals of their schools, based upon specific JCC criteria and their ability to benefit from the program. Speakers for this year's events will be: April 22, Eric Baldwin, counselor with the Jackson County Intermediate School District; May 6, Steve Bloomfield, JCC's director of student life; and May 13, Nancy Conley, member of the Diversity Council. The College Incentive Program focuses on providing consistent and systematic support to students throughout their secondary school years, including regular meetings to touch base with students and to recognize their success. In addition, CIP looks forward to developing a strong parent network to help further the efforts of the program and to benefit the whole family.
