Jackson Community College honored with marketing awards

Jackson Community College's marketing and communications department was honored recently with seven awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations District 3 Medallions Contest. JCC's marketing and communications staff includes Director Dotty Karkheck; Graphic Designer Lisa Drake; Writer Marilynn Fryer; and Web Designer Chris Detmer.

The Medallion Awards recognize outstanding achievement in communications at community, junior and technical colleges. Medallions for Gold, Silver and Bronze places were presented at the district conference in a variety of categories.

JCC staff members received the following Medallion Awards:

  • Brochure in two ink colors, Gold Medallion for 2005 Commencement Program.
  • Magazine, two awards, Gold Medallion for alumni publication JCC Today and Bronze Medallion for JCC's Career Choices magazine.
  • Outdoor Advertising, Silver Medallion for billboards, the "Learn, Live, Succeed!" series campaign.
  • Single Print Ad, Bronze Medallion, for a newspaper ad for Spring/Summer semester, "Get more than a tan this summer."
  • Specialty Advertising, Gold Medallion for a postcard-sized mailer and T-shirt, "Try JCC on for size."
  • Feature Article/General News Story, Bronze Medallion for article "New Kid in Class... The Real World of Adult Learners," published in Career Choices and focusing on issues and challenges facing adults who return to college.

NCMPR is an affiliate council of the American Association of Community Colleges. District 3 consists of colleges from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Ontario.
