12/05/05 For immediate release Reducing health care disparities topic of Media SummitEmpowerment Quest of Michigan and Jackson Community College are pleased to announce that Dr. Dennis Means will be the guest speaker at the Fourth Annual Media Summit, "Reducing Health Disparities in Jackson," which will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, in Jackson City Council Chambers at City Hall, 161 W. Michigan Ave. Dr. Means, who is the medical director for Physicians Health Plan of South Michigan, "will help define some of the disparities in health we face in Jackson County, and he will discuss ways we can work on this issue both individually and as a community," said Lee Hampton, director of multicultural relations at JCC and an event organizer. Following the presentation, a panel composed of members from the local media and community organizations will discuss how Jackson is addressing health disparities and offer ways to work together as a community to improve the situation. The event will conclude with an audience question-and-answer session with Dr. Means and the panel. The event is free and open to the public. No pre-registration is necessary.
