1/30/06 For immediate release Project Success Day features Piper as keynote speakerJackson Community College will welcome back John Piper to campus as keynote speaker for the Winter semester Project Success Day, Tuesday, Feb. 7. Piper will speak in the Sheffer Music Hall, Potter Center, from 11 a.m. to noon. Piper, former technical director for the George E. Potter Center theaters, left JCC in 2001 to move to the New York City area and became a vice president for the Macy's Parade Studio. He will speak to students about "Life's Report Card," showing the benefits of college education to students' futures and long-range goals, helping them to develop knowledge, skills, attitudes and tools that will serve them in all aspects of their lives after leaving JCC. His presentation will be open to the community. Project Success Day is a special day set aside at JCC when students have the opportunity to participate in workshops that improve their ability to succeed in college, and regular classes are cancelled. This semester's event will look at life "Beyond JCC," and include workshops on interview skills, resume writing, transfer information, career options and more. In addition, the day includes a free lunch, entertainment, raffles and more for students. |
