JXN Flight Fund awards scholarships

Jackson Community College is pleased to announce that JXN Flight Fund has awarded a total of $13,000 in scholarships to eight applicants from the JCC Flight Center in Jackson. These scholarships will be deposited into flight accounts to help with flying expenses.

Recipients include: Robert Broughton, Ryan Schelldorf, Nicholas Margraves, Jesse Holmes, Adam Burlew, Kenneth Anderson, Samantha Ortiz, and Julie Parshall.

"I'm very excited to have been chosen, it's a major honor," said Kenneth Anderson, originally from Paw Paw and now residing in Michigan Center. "This will help keep me flying and should help me finish out my private pilot's license for flight time. It was a major help to me that I wasn't expecting."

The JXN Flight Fund raised the money at a dance in August at the airport. The fund grew out of the effort to forego possible closure of the Flight Center by JCC in 2004 as a way to assist students with costs.
