College prepares to rededicate McDivitt Hall

McDivitt Commons

Jackson Community College will host a rededication ceremony for James McDivitt Hall on Tuesday, March 14, with tours of the facility beginning at 4:30 p.m. and ceremonies at 5 p.m.

McDivitt Hall, which houses JCC's physical and social sciences, mathematics, criminal justice and engineering sciences, received a major facelift and update over the summer and fall 2005. Renovations were made to update science labs, lecture halls, classrooms, office spaces, improved computer commons and bistro area, and additions of a new human specimen room and second elevator were installed.

"The College is very pleased to see these improvements completed, and we would like to invite the community to join us in celebrating these new and improved facilities," said President Daniel J. Phelan.

The $5.6 million renovation and refurbishment of McDivitt Hall has greatly enhanced learning opportunities for students. Renovations are paid for through sale of the College's downtown properties, a one-time rebate in state aid, and the rest through a $10 per billing contact hour facility fee paid by students.

The community is welcome to attend this rededication and open house to see the new facilities. Refreshments will be served.
