JCC, Spring Arbor University students present reading of play about German SS officer's experience in the Holocaust

Jackson Community College will present a staged reading of Dr. Paul Patton's new play, "Kurt Gerstein," at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, in the Day Theatre, Potter Center.

"Kurt Gerstein," tells the true story of a German SS officer's journey "to the valley of the shadow of death." It tells of one Kurt Gerstein, who, as an early witness to the Jewish death camps, attempts to alert the British and American embassies, as well as the Vatican, but to no avail. His journals would prove to be invaluable primary sources at the Nuremberg trials.

Paul Patton is an associate professor of communication and theater at Spring Arbor University and the author of over 30 produced plays. He is the founder of Trinity House Theater in Livonia.

Students from JCC and Spring Arbor University and community friends will read Patton's play. The public is invited to this free event, and there will be a reception afterward.
