JCC Board Secretary Valerie Schuette recognized by ACCT
Jackson Community College is pleased to announce that Secretary to the Board of Trustees Valerie Schuette, also JCC's director of human resources, has been recognized by the Association of Community College Trustees as the recipient of the 2006 Central Region Professional Board Staff Member Award.
Schuette has served as secretary to the JCC Board of Trustees for four years, and is responsible for developing all board materials and meeting packets, attends all regular and special meetings of the board, takes meeting minutes and handles all correspondence to the trustees. She coordinates travel arrangements for the board, and all of their correspondence needs. As board secretary, she has attended annual conferences of the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT), as well as Michigan Community College Association (MCCA) conferences and meetings.
In addition, she serves as the College's full-time director of human resources, and this spring completed her master's degree in human resource administration from Central Michigan University. She demonstrates integrity and leadership each day in her conduct, communications, and desires to assist those around her. She was recognized recently as the 2006 recipient of the Jackson Community College Distinguished Administrator Award in recognition of her outstanding work and service to the College as director of human resources. In the community, Valerie serves on the Executive Board for the local Girl Scouts council and serves on a United Way Vision Council.
Valerie and her husband, Matt, have one daughter, Cadence.
