JCC hosts auditions for 'Little Mary Sunshine'

Jackson Community College will host open auditions for the fall production of "Little Mary Sunshine," a musical, from 6-8:30 p.m. on Aug. 30 and 31 in the Baughman Theatre, Potter Center.

"Little Mary Sunshine" takes a trip back in time to simpler days, gently poking fun at old-time favorites with style and flair. The plot is a bit of everything, Colorado Rangers, a stalwart Captain, a lovely Mary, a chorus of lively school girls and a villainous Indian. Its musical score features 24 songs in all, with thundering choruses, schmaltzy waltzes and lilting duets.

Sandy DiCesare, coordinator of educational theatre at JCC, will be directing this production. Casting calls for nine to 12 men and six to nine women, as well as extras. Those auditioning should prepare a song to perform, and bring either sheet music or a tape accompaniment, and please wear comfortable clothes. For questions or to request a script, call 517.796.8625.
