JCC receives grant from Jackson County Community Foundation for high school drama competition
Jackson Community College is pleased to announce that it recently received a grant in the amount of $3,345 from The Jackson County Community Foundation. This grant was awarded through the Jackson Citizen Patriot Literacy Fund, which is a component of the Foundation.
The grant will be used to help fund the Jackson Community College High School One-Act Play Competition on March 10, 2007. “We are grateful for the funding because it will benefit Jackson County high school students who are participating in this competition,” said Sandy DiCesare, director of educational theater at JCC and coordinator of the event.
This event will welcome teams from six county high schools – Concord, Columbia, Grass Lake, Lumen Christi, Jackson High and Northwest – to perform a one-act work that is 10-15 minutes long in Baughman Theater, Potter Center. Awards will be presented in a variety of categories. Organizers hope the day will provide healthy and creative competition, foster team work, and promote theatrical opportunities at JCC and in the community.
Jackson Community College offers theater, music, art and dance programs for interested students, with outstanding performance facilities at the Potter Center. To find out more information, please contact Sandy DiCesare at 517.796.8625.
