Get on the fast track for corrections jobs!

Jackson Community College will offer a fast-track program this Winter semester for individuals hoping to become corrections officers.

The Michigan Department of Corrections is expecting 240 new job openings by May 21, 2007, with wages starting at an estimated $30,000 per year. JCC will offer the required minimum 15 credit hours of instruction recommended for state corrections officers in a schedule that includes classes two nights a week and Saturday mornings, allowing students to complete all requirements in 16 weeks. Students will attend class from 6-10 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 9-11 a.m. Saturdays. Applicants for corrections officer positions must also pass the Civil Service Exam and meet other requirements of the MDOC (see the JCC course catalog online at www.jccmi.edu/catalog for complete requirements).

Enroll now for Winter 2007 classes, which begin Jan. 8. For more information, call main campus at 517.796.8425, the LeTarte Center Hillsdale at 517.437.3343 or JCC @ VO-TECH at 517.265.5515.
