Showing Jackson’s downtown: Student works on display at Economy Art & Framing

Enjoy Jackson’s downtown landscapes as represented by student artists! Jackson Community College art students will display their works in the windows of Economy Art and Framing, 145 W. Michigan Ave., Jackson.

Students in instructor Ave Veneklasen’s beginning painting class completed urban landscapes for their final project of the Winter semester. All students picked sites from the downtown Jackson area that they had never seen or noticed before, took photos and came back with great ideas for their paintings, Veneklasen said.

“The students at JCC are amazingly talented, and I was really proud of their execution and wealth of ideas,” Veneklasen said. She is a member of Jackson’s Downtown Development Authority board and worked with Economy Art and Framing to display the student works there. They will go up in the first weekend in June and remain on display throughout the month. The community is invited to come by and see the works.
