Jets Basketball Academy to help young people learn game

Jackson Community College will host a Jets Basketball Academy for boys and girls in fifth through eighth grades to learn to play the game of basketball.  These will be 90-minute sessions from 12:30 to 2 p.m. over four Saturdays – Sept. 22, 29, Oct. 6 and 13, in the Victor Cuiss Fieldhouse on the Jackson campus of JCC.

This basketball academy will help young players learn to play basketball “the right way,” said Coach Steve Finamore of the JCC Jets men’s basketball team.  Emphasis will be placed on shooting, passing, dribbling, ball handling, moving without the ball, defense, rebounding, foot work, and being a great teammate. Each player will receive a drill instruction booklet and a T-shirt.

Cost is $40 per player for all four sessions, and there will be a $10 discount for additional family members. For more information, contact Coach Finamore at 517.796.8455.
