Past JCC basketball players invited to participate in opening home game
Jackson Community College is searching for alumni who played basketball for JCC in the past to be part of a special ceremony during the first home men’s basketball game of the season.
The Jets men’s and women’s basketball teams will play their first home games Saturday, Nov. 10 in the Victor Cuiss Fieldhouse on JCC’s Jackson campus. The women’s game begins at 5:30 p.m., and the Alumni Association will host an alumni athletes’ reception at 6 p.m. Alumni are invited to attend the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
As a special recognition during halftime of the men’s game, all prior JCC basketball players are invited to attend. Players from Jackson Junior College’s 1929 team through 1981, the year basketball was discontinued at JCC, are invited to this special event.
Howard Woods, who played with the team in 1939-’40, is looking forward the evening. “It’s wonderful that sports have returned,” Woods said.
