JCC dance students host free demonstration Sunday
Jackson Community College will host a free dance demonstration performed by current dance students at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 in the Baughman Theatre, Potter Center.
The production features 10 dancers from JCC’s jazz techniques dance class, who come with different levels of experience. Dancers must learn to work collaboratively together as they learn and improve their dance.
“We want to let our college community understand how jazz dances are designed, about the history of jazz dance and its techniques,” said Professor Martha Petry, dance instructor.
Students will perform nine dances, with a variety of music from groups including Black Eyed Peas, OneRepublic, AC/DC, The Knack, Enya, Kym Mazelle and Deep Forest.
Please join JCC’s dance students for this special afternoon. Admission is free, and the event should last until about 4:15 p.m., Petry said.
