JCC to host open auditions for comedy/farce 'Drop Dead'

Jackson Community College will host open auditions for the comedy/farce “Drop Dead” on Dec. 16 and 17 in the Potter Center. Community members and students are invited to try out.

“Drop Dead” is a comedy by Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore that tells the story of a cast of has-been actors who plan to revive their careers in the play-within-a-play, ‘Drop Dead,’ a murder mystery. At the dress rehearsal the set falls, props break, and the producer and an actor are murdered. During the opening night performance, the murders continue. The remaining thespians must save the show and their careers, solve the mystery and stay alive for curtain calls.

This production calls for a cast of seven men and three women. Auditions will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 and from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, or by appointment, in the Ruth Day Theatre, Potter Center. Scripts are available; for more information or to schedule an audition, contact Director Sandy DiCesare, at 517.796.8625.

Production dates for this comedy will be the last two weekends in February.
