For immediate release Band's spring concert featured Young Artist Winner
Hear the winner
of the 2008 Young Artist Award when the Jackson Community Concert Band performs
in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday,
March 2 in the Harold Sheffer Music Hall, Potter
Center at Jackson Community College. The 2008 Young Artist winner is trumpeter Erin Yanacek, a student at Western Michigan University and a native of Midland. She will perform the “Concert Etude” by Alexander Goedicke, and “Trumpeter’s Lullaby” by Leroy Anderson, with band accompaniment. Rounding out the program, the band will perform “Symphony for Band” by Vincent Persichetti, the “Polka and Fugue” from Schwanda the Bagpiper by J. Weinberger, “Duke Ellington,” a medley of great songs by the jazz legend, and a duet for trumpet and trombone with band, “Fandango” by Turrin, which will feature Ed Tappan on trumpet and Bob Woodard on trombone.
