JCC teams sign players for 2008-09 seasons

Jackson Community College Jets signed players for softball and men’s basketball in signings ceremonies last week.

In women’s softball, Clinton High graduate Colleen Zimmerman and Saline High graduate Alissa Robison signed for the 2008-09 year.  Zimmerman received Scholar Athlete awards in 2006 and 2007, All Conference Shortstop First Team 2006, 2007; Most Valuable Defensive Player 2006, 2007; Redskin Award 2006; All District Shortstop First Team 2007; All Region Shortstop First Team 2007; All County Short Stop Second Team 2007; Ann Arbor News All Area Shortstop Second Team 2007; WLEN Athlete of the Week, 2007.  Robison received All Conference Honorable Mention in 2006; Team Outstanding Offensive Award 2006, 2007; All Conference 2007, All District 2007; and Ann Arbor News All Area Honorable Mention 2007. 

Signing to the  men’s basketball 2008-09 team were Derek Belote, Jackson Christian graduate who also played two years at East Jackson; Clifton Ross, 2000 graduate of Jackson High; and Elliott Munz, 2005 Whitmore Lake High School graduate.  Belote received Most Valuable Player, All Conference honors and All State Honorable Mention.  Ross was All Conference three years, All Area three years, and Citizen Patriot Player of the Year in 2000.  Munz received All Conference Honors and was third in the area in scoring; he played a year previously at Gogebic Community College.
