Auditions planned for 'Dearly Departed'

Be part of the hilarious comedy “Dearly Departed,” Jackson Community College’s fall production which promises to be drop-dead funny!

Open auditions for this comedy are planned for 6-8 p.m. Sept. 10 and 11 in the Michael Baughman Theatre, Potter Center.  Students and community members are invited to audition.

“Dearly Departed,” written by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones, tells the story of the backwoods Turpin family. The patriarch of the Turpin family keels over, and his eccentric family – a cast of colorful characters – gathers for an old-fashioned Southern funeral. Amidst the chaos, the Turpins turn for comfort to their friends and neighbors, an eccentric community of misfits who just manage to pull together and help each other through their hours of need, and finally, the funeral.

The play will be directed by Associate Professor Gary Wetzel-Righettini.  The cast calls for four men and six women, with some double casting. For more information or to request a script, call 517.796.8582.
