Non-profit agencies invited to JCC volunteer fair

Jackson Community College will host a volunteer fair as part of Project Success Day Oct. 7 entitled “Jackson Community Connections Through Service.” All area non-profit agencies and schools are invited to participate.

This is a bi-annual event since 2001,  in which JCC students have the opportunity to volunteer for community service hours with local agencies and schools. The fall event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, which is “Project Success Day” at JCC, a time when regular classes are cancelled and students are invited to participate in an all-day conference-style event to help them improve their college study skills. The volunteer fair is during the conference lunch, near the cafeteria.  Students will be encouraged to visit the volunteer fair as part of the conference. Each attending agency will receive a lunch ticket for up to two representatives. Set up for the volunteer fair will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Many of the courses at JCC expect a form of community connection through service. This event affords students and community agencies a perfect setting for connections. In addition, some of the scholarships at JCC require volunteering within the community. The fair offers JCC students many opportunities to fulfill their scholarship requirements.

If you would like to participate, please contact Professor Mary Belknap, teacher education program coordinator, at 517.796.8575 or 796.8582, or e-mail belknapmaryc@jccmi.edu. You may also download a form online. All forms are requested to be received by Oct. 1.
