Concert Band Continues 'Homegrown' Favorites

The Jackson Community Concert Band will kick off its 16th
season with "Homegrown II," a concert continuing the popular
theme of last season with selections celebrating our heritage as Americans
and as Michiganders. The
performance will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 17, in the Harold
Sheffer Music Hall of Potter Center.
Guest artist will be jazz
trombonist and Jackson native Andrea Rowlison.
Now a studio musician in the Universal and Disney studios in
Orlando, Florida, Andrea will perform "Skylark" by Hoagy Carmichael,
and "Tuxedo Junction" by Glenn Miller.
The band will perform Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Common
Man," Vincent Persichetti's "Symphony for Band," "October," by
Eric Whitacre, and "Yiddish Dances," by Adam Gorb.
The
Jackson Community Concert Band is comprised of students and community
members, under the direction of Conductor Ronald L. Douglass. Cost is $8
for adults, or $3 students and seniors, with children 6 and under free.
