JCC Programs for May Focus on 'DaVinci Code,' Genealogy

Jackson Community College will host a number of programs in May, including a book club discussion on the popular "The DaVinci Code," a historical lecture about the Knights of the Templar, as well as genealogy programs. Events include:

The Book Club  @ JCC, 6:30 p.m. May 10, Federer Room A, Potter Center.  "The DaVinci Code" by Dan Brown is our book selection for May. This widely talked about suspense novel starts with a violent murder in the Louvre Museum in Paris. At the scene of the crime, mysterious clues are left that lead to secret societies, Leonardo Da Vinci, Mary Magdalene and the modern day search for the Holy Grail. This program is free and open to the general public.  Please phone the library at (517) 796-8622, Sunday through Friday to register for this program.

Medieval History @ JCC: The Knights of the Templar with Dr. Emily Tabuteau, 6:30 p.m. May 17, Federer Room A, Potter Center.  Our speaker is Dr. Emily Tabuteau from the Department of History at Michigan State University. Over 900 years ago, Muslims fighting Christians were suddenly assaulted by a strange and terrifying force...a legion of sword-wielding monks called the Knights Templar. Their fanatical courage struck terror in their enemies; their fabulous wealth made them the most powerful men in Europe; their secret rites inspired rumors of blasphemy. Did the Knights Templar find ancient secrets buried beneath Solomon's Temple? Were they the protectors of the Holy Grail? Did they conspire to seize part of Europe for themselves? Join us as we search for answers to these enduring enigmas in the long ago time of the bold and mysterious Knights Templar. This program is free and open to the general public.  Please phone the library at (517) 796-8622, Sunday through Friday to register for this program.
