Concert Series to Feature Early July 4th Celebration

7 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, Potter Center

Strike up the band!  Jackson Community College's Front Porch Concert Series will finish with a bang as the Jackson Community Concert Band presents a pre-Fourth of July concert on Tuesday, June 29, at 7 p.m. on the front porch of the Potter Center.

The band will present a traditional outdoor concert with plenty of patriotic American fare for music lovers to feast on, from John Philip Sousa to Walt Disney, and finishing with Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture."  Band member Craig Britton, described as a world-class soloist by director Ron Douglass, will perform a euphonium solo called "Beautiful Colorado."

These concerts are fun, free, accessible and guaranteed - activities will move indoors in case of inclement weather.  Persons wishing to pre-arrange seating may call ahead at (517) 796-8559; otherwise, audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Barbecue dinner will be available for concert-goers beginning about a half hour before the performance and running through the show, for a cost of $6.

The Jackson Community Concert Band is comprised of Jackson Community College students and community members, under the direction of Ron Douglass.
