High-flying fun!  JCC hosts first disc golf event

Saturday, June 4, JCC Victor Cuiss Fieldhouse

Jackson Community College will celebrate its new 18-hole disc golf course with a tournament Saturday, June 4 on the main campus.

JCC recently completed all the holes of the disc golf course, the first and only disc golf course in Jackson County open to the public, which starts near the Victor Cuiss Fieldhouse and spreads across the southeast corner of the campus.  This is the first disc golf tournament, and organizers hope to make it a regular annual event for the weekend before the Rose Run event.  It is being sponsored by Jackson Community College and the Ann Arbor Disc Golf Club.

Players will play for plastic - the chance to win competitive throwing discs, unique discs with unusual designs or with course logos.  The Ann Arbor Disc Golf Club is providing the prize discs.

Player registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the fieldhouse lobby, and rules and regulations for players will be presented from 9:30-10 a.m.  Tournament action will begin at 10 a.m., with two 18-hole games to be played, with a break for lunch in between (directions to local restaurants provided).  The field is open to 72 participants.

            Entrance fees are (per person):

·        Pro $30

·        AM1 $20 (Amateur)

·        AM2 $15

·        AM3 $10
