College examines findings of community reportJackson Community College received the report, entitled Understanding the Apparent Gap Between Jackson Community College and the Jackson Community at Large. The report, spearheaded by a task force sponsored by The Enterprise Group of Jackson, in partnership with the Weatherwax Foundation, sought to provide a deeper understanding of the apparent gap between the College and the community. "The Board of Trustees at Jackson Community College view this report as a great opportunity to help the College reconnect with its constituency. The report provides valuable input and critical feedback from our community," said JCC Board of Trustees Chair Dennis DaPra. The task force met with a wide variety of citizen groups from the Jackson County area in an effort to assess and define the nature of the rapport between the College and the community. "The timing couldn't have been better," said JCC President Daniel Phelan. "We will be finalizing our strategic plan for the next three years and plan to incorporate the public's thoughts into the plan. Furthermore, we will closely examine the strengths and challenges noted in the report and pull together a comprehensive plan to address the question of community ownership." The College extends its sincere appreciation to the task force membership, and especially to Neeta Delaney, chair of the task force, for her leadership and guidance of the process, the Enterprise Group, the Weatherwax Foundation for its funding assistance and commitment, and to the project consultant, David Near. |
