Nursing students to assist seniors with new Medicare prescription drug plans
Students in Jackson Community College's nursing program will assist senior citizens by offering one-on-one instruction on Medicare prescription drug plan formularies from 1-4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15 at the Carnegie Branch of the Jackson District Library.
With all the confusion associated with the new Medicare plans and the likelihood that seniors are not web savvy, students will assist senior citizens in using the web to determine which of the formulary plans they need to choose from by January 2006. Five students, enrolled in JCC's Nursing 103, Nursing as a Profession, will be conducting the session as a class project, designed to address a need in the community.
Seniors attending the session will be guided individually through the online process. Students will not be providing advice as to which plans to choose. The sessions are on a first-come, first-serve basis, and there is no cost involved.
