JCC enrollment reflects continued trend toward younger, more full-time students
On the opening day of Fall 2005 semester, Jackson Community College's enrollment shows an increase in billing contact hours, while overall headcount remains steady compared to opening day Fall '04. Registration continues into the semester for the late-starting classes, so opening day figures are tentative.
Get to know your ancestors! JCC presents introduction to genealogy workshop
Jackson Community College will present an introductory workshop entitled "Genealogy for Beginners @ JCC: How to Start Researching your Family Tree," at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26 in Federer Rooms B&C, Potter Center.
JCC receives $10,000 award for teacher education program
Jackson Community College’s teacher education program has gained national recognition for excellence. JCC is one of 10 community colleges across the country to receive a $10,000 award from the American Association of Community Colleges through the “Teaching By Choice Community College Teacher Preparation Program Recognition Award” program.

Beginning in the fall, JCC will offer a new continuing education format for health and physical fitness courses, called lifetime learning. Many past fitness classes that are taken both for credit or audited by community members will be offered under lifetime learning, as well as some exciting new offerings.
JCC Golden Jets to host tryouts
The JCC Golden Jets hockey team will hold tryouts for the 2005-06 season on three Sundays in August. Tryout times will be 6-8 p.m. Aug. 14, 21 and 28, at the Jackson Optimist Ice Arena.
Giving back, enriching learning: JCC students complete service learning
Jackson Community College students completed 8,236 hours of service learning projects during the Fall '04 and Winter '05 semesters, involving 657 students.
Campus Compact Survey: Students Contribute $Billions in Service to Communities
Every year, cities and towns throughout the United States receive billions of dollars worth of volunteer service from students who attend local colleges. According to one annual study, the 950 colleges and universities that are members of the Campus Compact – roughly one-third of the nation's higher education campuses – accounted for more than $4 billion alone.
