June 7th, 2006 For immediate release NFL coaches to lend their support to Dungy Endowed Chair fundJackson Community College will welcome three head coaches from the NFL for an evening of fun designed to raise money for the Dr. Wilbur L. Dungy Endowed Chair in Science at Jackson Community College. A dinner and silent auction will be held Friday, June 23, with doors open to view silent auction items at 6 p.m. with dinner and program to follow at 7 p.m., in the Potter Center Snyder Dining Room on the main campus of JCC. Tony Dungy, head coach of the Indianapolis Colts and son of the late Wilbur Dungy, will be on hand, as well as Detroit Lions Coach Rod Marinelli and Chicago Bears Coach Lovie Smith. Dungy, Marinelli and Smith will greet guests of the corporate sponsors in a VIP reception, then later speak to all guests at the evening's dinner. Attendees will be able to bid on exciting sports memorabilia items including an autographed football by Peyton Manning and Tony Dungy, Superbowl jersey signed by Jerome Bettis, autographed jersey by Barry Sanders, and a day trip in the Extreme Entertainment Super coach. All proceeds will benefit the Dr. Wilbur L. Dungy Endowed Chair in Science Fund at JCC. In memory of his dedication to education, his children have established the endowed chair to help promote excellence in teaching at the College. It will provide a faculty member with resources for professional development, purchase of equipment, promotional development, and development of a conference or similar educational opportunity for students. The Dungy family and related donors have contributed $250,000 toward a $1 million goal for the Dr. Wilbur L. Dungy Endowed Chair. Individual tickets are $100 per person, and corporate tables are available for $1,000. Corporate tables include eight tickets to the event, and four tickets to the VIP reception to meet and greet the coaches. For tickets or further information please call 796-8600. |
