Summer fun: Send your middle-schoolers to 'Kids College' at JCC

Jackson Community College will welcome young people to campus next week for Kids College, two weeks of fun and informative workshops that begin the week of June 19 on the main campus of JCC.

Workshops are designed for boys and girls in grades six, seven and eight. Kids College sessions running the week of June 19-23 include:

  • Show Biz Kids, 9 a.m. to noon. Be a star on stage in this fun workshop.
  • Hairy Potter, 1-4 p.m. Have fun with ceramics and pottery in this class.

Sessions running the week of June 26-30 include:

  • Enter Stage Right, 9 a.m. to noon. Learn the secrets of theater in this course.
  • Sing Your Heart Out, 1-4 p.m. Explore piano and song in this session.
  • JCC Band Camp will run throughout June 19-29. Pre-high school musicians with one to four years of experience will have the opportunity to participate in a concert band, improve their technique and connect with other young performers from area schools. First year students should attend 9 a.m. to noon, and other middle school students 1-4 p.m. The nine-day camp offers an intense learning experience, with a finale concert for parents the final day.

Costs for the first four courses will be $50 for the first session, and each addition session $45 (excluding band camp). If students are attending both morning and afternoon sessions, please pack a lunch. Cost for band camp is $95. For more information, please call Janet Lyons at (517) 796-8627.
