June 14th, 2006 For immediate release Hands-on financial aid workshop plannedDo you need help paying for college? Applying for financial aid is your first step. Jackson Community College will host a free hands-on financial aid workshop for students and parents to learn about filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form on Thursday, June 29, from 6-8 p.m. in Justin Whiting Hall Room 102. A variety of financial aid options are available for JCC students, including grants, loans, and student employment. Filing the FAFSA on the web helps to speed up the process, and financial aid experts will be present to assist you in this endeavor. Students and parents are encouraged to visit www.pin.ed.gov and apply for a PIN (personal identification number) before the workshop; this usually takes three days if you provide an e-mail address, and seven to10 days if received through the mail. Participants should bring their 2005 federal tax returns for students, along with your parents' federal tax return if you are a dependent student. You will also need driver's license numbers, Social Security cards, and proof of any untaxed income. For more information, contact the Financial Aid Office at 517-796-8410. |
