JCC to welcome adult learners to 'Return to Learn'

Are you an adult who has thought about returning to college but have never taken that step? Jackson Community College will host a workshop for adults interested in returning to college on Monday, July 10, from from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Federer Rooms, Potter Center.

This workshop is open to all adults who would like to learn more about online learning, financial aid, choosing the right career, and an introduction to campus resources. Those attending who have at least 12 college credits and haven't been to JCC in at least the last two years may qualify for a $100 tuition voucher.

This event is part of Gov. Jennifer Granholm's statewide "Return to Learn" campaign to invite Michigan adults to return to school by either completing or initiating study leading to postsecondary degrees and credentials. The state Commission on Higher Education and Economic Growth lead by Lt. Gov. John Cherry made a strong case that helping Michigan working-age adults complete postsecondary degrees and credentials was a major priority for improving Michigan's economic future, as well as the personal finances of Michigan families.

As Gov. Granholm said in announcing the "Return to Learn" initiative, "A college degree can be the ticket to a bigger paycheck for our citizens and a stronger economy for our state. To attract the kinds of businesses we need to grow Michigan's economy, Michigan needs to lead the nation in the number of college graduates we have in our state."

For adults looking for a new future, this JCC workshop can be that first step. To RSVP for this "Return to Learn" event at JCC, please call 796-8411 and leave your name, contact number and birth date.
