November 30th, 2006 For immediate release Jobs for corrections officers topic of open houseJackson Community College will host an informational open house for anyone interested in becoming a corrections officer at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, in Federer Room A, Potter Center. The Michigan Department of Corrections anticipates 240 new job openings by May 21, 2007, with first-year salaries starting at $30,000 with increases beginning the second year (estimated salary based on MDOC figures). Jackson Community College offers the required 15 hours of college credit for corrections officers. Attending this open house will be Maria Guizar, regional recruiter for the MDOC, who will be presenting on the corrections officer job opportunities.
