70 Colleges & Universities scheduled to attend JCC College Night

Learn about the variety of options for higher education when Jackson Community College hosts College Night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, in the Victor Cuiss Fieldhouse. The College Night program is designed for JCC students and high school students interested in exploring their higher education options with four-year colleges or universities.

High school students, get your act together for theatre competition!

Jackson Community College, with the support of local theatre groups, Center Stage Jackson and Left of Center, will host a one-act play competition for high schools in March of 2007.

Bill Maher to be presented with Master Pilot Award

September 18th, 2006

Jackson Community College is pleased to announce that longtime pilot Bill Maher, a veteran airman of World War II, Jackson Junior College alumnus, and chairman of the JCC Flight Center Advisory Board for 25 years, will be honored with the Federal Aviation Administration’s Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award, given to those with more than 50 consecutive years of flying or more.

JCC Fall enrollment increases in both number of students, hours enrolled

Jackson Community College’s Fall enrollment is up in both the number of hours enrolled and student headcount, the highest the College has seen in the last six years. At the opening of the Fall semester, the College’s enrollment was up 4 percent in overall headcount, at 5,341 students compared to 5,148 at last year’s start.

Professor Mark Ott named to cross country assistant coach spot

September 12th, 2006

Jackson Community College is pleased to announce that Professor Mark Ott, Ph.D., will now also serve as assistant coach of the Jets’ cross country teams. Mark Ott has taught chemistry at JCC for five years now, and for the past several years has presented a Christmastime “O’ Chemistry” science demonstration designed for school children.

Nominations sought for King Medal of Service Awards

September 4th, 2006

Jackson Community College will soon be accepting nominations for the Martin Luther King Jr. Medal of Service Award. The King Medal of Service Award recognizes individuals or groups of individuals in Jackson County for their community service. Medals are issued during the Jackson Community College King celebration in January.
