Financial aid workshop planned at JCC
Jackson Community College will host a free hands-on financial aid workshop for students and parents to learn about filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form on Monday, April 23 from 6-8 p.m. in Justin Whiting Hall, Room 103, on JCC’s main campus.
A variety of financial aid options could be available for JCC students, including grants, loans, and student employment. Filing the FAFSA on the web helps to speed up the process, and financial aid experts will be present to assist you in this endeavor. Students and parents are encouraged to visit www.pin.ed.gov and apply for a PIN (personal identification number) before the workshop; this usually takes three days if you provide an e-mail address, and seven to10 days if received through the mail. Participants should bring their completed 2006 federal tax returns for students, along with parents’ federal tax return if he or she is a dependent student. If students are interested in financial aid for Spring/Summer semester, they should bring 2005 tax returns. Participants will also need driver’s license numbers, Social Security cards, and proof of any untaxed income.
