Jackson Community College’s women’s soccer team signed five new players this week to the 2009 team. They include:

  • Andi Cochran, Hillsdale High School, anticipated position outside midfielder/forward, received All District, First Team All Conference (SMAA) and Team MVP honors. Played with club team Michigan Rush Central.

Coach Hosmer said: "Andi is a relentless worker and fierce competitor.  She has great speed and endurance along with strong tackling and crossing abilities.  We will look to her tremendous work ethic and skills on our flanks both in over-lapping into the attack and recovering to help on defense.  She has been a difficult competitor to coach against in high school and I'm looking forward to having her on my side at the next level."

  • Tiffany Faust, Jackson Northwest High School, anticipated position forward/midfielder, three-year varsity player. Played with club team TNT Dynamite and Michigan Chill.

Coach Hosmer said: "Tiffany really stood out in our try-out.  She is quick and strong on the ball with good decision making and a nice finishing touch.  We'll be looking to her for some goal scoring power."

  • Amanda Hulett, Jackson Christian High School, anticipated position central midfielder, First Team All Conference (Independent Soccer League) two years, All District two years, All Region, All State Honorable Mention, holds single season assists record at Jackson Christian, varsity starter since freshman season. Played with club team Michigan Rush Central.
  • Coach Hosmer said: "Amanda has a great sense about the game.  She reads the play well, anticipating the movements of the ball, the opponent, and her teammates which makes her an effective gate through which the game must flow in the middle of the field.  Much of this comes from her years spent playing on CMSA boys club teams locally.  We will be looking for her to combine with our returning central midfielders to strengthen our tactical ambitions both offensively and defensively.  In addition, she can score from range which can be an effective weapon particularly in the women's game."

  • Kayla Minix, Dansville High School, anticipated position holding midfielder, All District, four-year varsity starter, two-year varsity basketball player, also received several academic honors. Played with club team TNT Dynamite.
  • Coach Hosmer said: "Kayla will bring a physical but intelligent component to our defensive side of the ball.  One of the keys to our success is winning tough challenges in the middle of the field and then distributing quickly and efficiently.  Kayla will be a big key to providing us that element next year."

  • Renee Morrison, Woodhaven High School, anticipated position midfield, was National Indoor Champion as part of club team Michigan Hawks, three-year varsity player, All Conference (Mega Red), All District Coach’s Award, head captain for upcoming spring season. Played for club teams Michigan Hawks, Livonia Meteors.
  • Coach Hosmer said: "Renee has a soccer resume so extensive it is impossible to list all of her experience and accomplishments.  She is a student of the game and with her on the field it is like having another coach out there.  The particular skill we will be looking to is her free kick ability as set pieces are such dangerous scoring opportunities."
