Boost your career skills with free workshops at Michigan Works!

South Central Michigan Works!, a workforce development partner of Jackson Community College, will present several workshops in May designed to help job seekers and community members.

Workshops will include:

·        The Best Basic Money Class You’ll Ever Need – Learn important information on balancing your personal budget, saving and investing money on a limited income and what is a secure investment.  Dates are 2-4 p.m. May 21, and 9-11 a.m. May 28, at the Michigan Works! office, Commonwealth Commerce Center, 209 E. Washington St. Suite 100, Jackson, 49201.  

·        Interview Skills Workshop – Approach your next job interview with confidence!  This workshop will help you gain the information and experience you need for success in a job interview.  Dates are 9:30-11:30 a.m. May 8, 9-11 a.m. May 13, and 9-11 a.m. May 23 at the Michigan Works! office.

·        Dress for Success – Is your fashion sense making a statement before you even speak to an employer?  This class will help you learn how to dress for the interview and what is considered acceptable workplace attire. Dates are 1-4 p.m. May 9, and 9-11 a.m. May 22 at the Michigan Works! office.

·        Job Fit Assessment – Learn what types of jobs or career you are best suited for with this computerized Job Fit Assessment. This will be offered from 1-4 p.m. May 15.
