LeTarte Center reaching out to Camden area with admissions services

Students in the Camden-Frontier and southern Hillsdale County areas interested in taking classes this Fall can get started with admissions outreach events in the area.

JCC’s Hillsdale LeTarte Center will begin offering classes at Camden-Frontier High School for the 2008-09 academic year. Camden-Frontier administration has agreed to allow JCC to use their facility as an extension site for classes and services. Classes will be open to any college-aged students, as well as high school students eligible for dual enrollment.

On Tuesday, June 24, JCC personnel will be providing admissions services at Camden-Frontier High School. Using the Mobile One-Stop Center (MOC-1) from South Central Michigan Works!, interested students may complete course placement assessment, attend a “Getting Started” workshop and file for financial aid.  Schedule will be as follows:

  • 3 p.m. MOC-1 arrives

  • 4 p.m. Course placement offered. Please bring photo identification.

  • 6 p.m. Getting Started workshop – An overview of the five steps to becoming a college student, introduction to JCC’s web site and the new financial aid process.  Applications will be collected.

  • 7:30 p.m. Financial aid workshop – receive help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online; please bring 2007 federal income tax return.

The MOC-1 vehicle has 12 computer work stations available, so interested students should call 517.437.3343 and reserve a seat for this event.

On Saturday, July 12, JCC personnel will provide one-on-one advising services in a classroom at Camden-Frontier H.S.  Students may make an appointment for advising from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  One-hour orientation sessions will be held at 9:45 a.m. and noon.

Any questions, please contact the JCC Hillsdale LeTarte Center at 517.437.3343.
