JCC, Siena Heights to launch new accelerated business degree session

Jackson Community College’s JCC @ LISD TECH campus will soon start a new cohort of the accelerated business program.

JCC @ LISD TECH and Siena Heights University have partnered to provide an opportunity for individuals to obtain a Bachelor’s of Business Administration within three years in a format that will provide the flexibility needed by many. The program offers the same courses as a traditional Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, but in a shorter, compressed time frame.

Marilyn Gurr graduated in May with her BBA and was pleased with the program. Though she was overwhelmed at first because she had no computer skills, she relied on her fellow classmates for help and personally realized there would be no other way to finish her bachelor’s degree if she didn’t continue the program. Utilization of “learning communities,” classes that link assignments and objectives together, made all the difference in the world, Gurr said.  Staff members were very helpful, she said, as one even met her on her lunch to give her some last minute class materials she needed.  Now a college graduate with her bachelor’s degree, Gurr is thankful for the opportunity to learn and for the help she received from classmates, faculty and staff.

If you’ve wanted to complete your bachelor’s degree in business administration but weren’t sure how, JCC @ LISD TECH will host an informational open house about the accelerated business degree program at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 17.  Prospective students will have the opportunity to:

  • Meet and mingle with members of the faculty, staff, and current students affiliated with the accelerated business program.
  • Meet a panel of students who will share their experiences studying in the program followed by a question and answer period.
  • Talk about our scheduling designed for the working professional.
  • Discuss the academic and financial advantages, as well as the challenges, of studying in an accelerated program.

If you have questions about the event or the program, please call JCC @ LISD TECH at 517.265.5515.
